Parent and Child Reading Club – Read, Grow & Inspire

The Power Movement is delighted to announce our Parent and Child Reading Club

The Power Movement is delighted to announce our Parent and Child Reading Club, a fun and supportive 12-week programme designed to help children develop their reading skills, build confidence and discover the enjoyment of reading together with their parents.

Taking place every Sunday from 1pm–2pm at Selby Community Centre, the weekly sessions are open to children aged 7–10 years who are able to read independently.

Led by a qualified and experienced teacher, each session will provide a welcoming environment where children can practise reading aloud, expand their vocabulary and improve their pronunciation, while developing greater confidence in their reading abilities.

Making reading fun for the whole family

Reading is an important part of a child’s development, but we also want it to be something children and their families can genuinely enjoy.

Parents are therefore encouraged to read along with their children, helping families develop positive reading habits that can continue at home long after each session has finished.

Throughout the 12-week programme, children and parents will have the opportunity to:

  • Read aloud together

  • Build confidence

  • Improve vocabulary

  • Improve pronunciation

  • Develop a greater enjoyment of reading

  • Make reading at home fun and engaging

Our aim is to create a relaxed and supportive space where children feel comfortable developing their skills at their own pace and parents can play an active part in their reading journey.
